My friend Heather became an ordained Chaplain and created a project called Love Anyway, who’s mission is to offer a safe container through a variety of programs for mothers to be with their child on life support and also to help with the grieving process. Her desire was to shift the context around the loss of a child from victim to victorious by giving women a place to share their stories, utilize grief and mark what society often views as tragic as transformative.
Heather needed a logo, informational card and website that would give mother’s access to Hotline information and to tell them about upcoming programs offered as well as ongoing services such as post-partum support and breast milk donation.
The logo is a feminine script style drawing of Jizo Bodhisattva, who is the Buddhist Bodhisattva protector of women, children and guide to travelers through both the physical and spiritual realms. Jizo is is special to pregnant women and to those whose children have died. Grieving parents place toys and other offerings beside the Jizo statue to invoke his protection of their dead child. A protest sign was used to portray the message of Love Anyway as an advocate for mothers. Colours are calming, positive and light. The look and feel of the logo was easily carried into the informational card and website.
